Activity Closet

There is no greater treat for a child than a special activity closet. It’s not a closet that’s used every day, but a closet filled with special activities to be used on special days. The special closet is a lifesaver for a parent, It’s perfect for those days you hear the dreaded words, “I am Bored.” It takes a little thought in the beginning, but you will soon get the hang of it.

The closet should have a bin stocked with art supplies, craft supplies and fun games and activities. The dollar store is a great source to stock up on supplies as well as the local parent teacher store. Start collecting things that can be sorted, matched, used as game markers. Ribbons, wrapping paper, stickers and old magazines lend themselves to hours of crafting projects. Many games can be created by using household materials. Gather all the items you need for an activity and put them in a plastic bag. The trick is to have everything ready ahead of time.

Happy child, happy parent. It is a win, win, win!
